June is the start of National Indigenous History Month. The Town of Okotoks is planning to commemorate the Tipi transfer that took place on June 3, 2023, and kick off
National Indigenous History Month with a “Tipi Camp” and the 2nd annual all- Indigenous Artisan Market.

The Camp will be set up in an area close to the Okotoks Recreation Centre (99 Okotoks Drive). Set up for the Camp will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, and take down will
begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

Take part in our Tipi Camp

We are currently looking for Tipi Camp participants, so if you have a Tipi(s) and want to set it up during our tipi camp, you are more than welcome to join. There is no fee to participate and you do not have to be Indigenous to take part in the tipi camp. We encourage anyone with a Tipi to come and set up, especially Indigenous and Non-Indigenous organizations, municipalities, cities, etc. Each Tipi holder will receive a $250.00 honorarium for setting up. The first 30 Tipi’s will have a reserved spot, and any additional Tipi holders will be placed on a numbered waiting list.
